Ryton Circle Autumn Term

Ye Olde Cross
Barmoor LaneRyton VillageGateshead NE40 3qpNorth East
Starts Fri, 18 Sept 2026
Ye Olde Cross
The legendary Olde Cross is a gorgeous, community owned pub that really feels like the beating heart of Ryton Village. Our Circles will be nestled in the cosy nook, bathed in the beautiful light that filters through the trees on the green just outside the window. Our Writing Circles are weekly mother & baby groups, using writing & community in beautiful settings to support the transition into motherhood. The circles are open to anyone who self-identities with mothering or motherhood, whatever way that looks.

Taster session

Experience the magic of a MotherFolk circle before committing to booking a whole term. Please note: Buying a taster session doesn't automatically hold you a place on the current term - if the term you've tried is already full by the time you come to book, we can't guarantee a spot. If that happens, you won't lose out: we'll guarantee you a place on the following term instead.

About the host

Hi, I'm Bridie (She/Her)

I can't wait to welcome you to a circle soon!

I am a Tyne Valley native, an enthusiastic reader, writer, singer and scranner. When asked about my hobbies, my husband once told a new acquaintance that I like TV. I couldn’t deny it.

MotherFolk circles held me as I grew into my motherhood. A warm space to reflect and realise was exactly what I needed and I’m so excited to hold that space for the mother folk of the Tyne Valley.

Frequently asked questions

Absolutely not! Our circles are not writing classes, and they’re not about producing perfect pieces of writing. Writing is simply the tool we use to connect with ourselves and unpack our experiences a little bit. We will always give you very easy prompts to jump into, and you will never be asked to read your writing aloud to the group.
