Jesmond Circle Summer Term

Jesmond Library

Starts Mon, 1 Jun 2026
Jesmond Library
Jesmond Library is a sanctuary defined by its circular architecture and magnificent windows, which flood the circle space with natural light, and envelope us in views of the trees outside. The space moves with the seasons: in summer the library is bright, open, and sun-drenched. In winter, it transforms into a cozy, hushed cocoon. Whatever the weather outside we'd love to welcome you to this very special space.

About the host

Hi, I'm Lily

I run MotherFolk North Tyneside

Originally from London, I spent five years living in Amsterdam, where I gave birth to my first son. Far from family, my matrescence was marked by loneliness and a total loss of confidence and identity.

When my second son arrived, I had relocated to the North East to be near my family, yet that familiar isolation crept back in. I craved connection but found only superficial small talk and left baby groups feeling hollow. That was until I joined my first MotherFolk writing circle. There, I felt seen, welcome and held.

Now, I’m looking forward to holding space for mothers in North Tyneside. One where their shoulders drop as they walk in. Where they can exhale that long breath they might not have even realised they were holding. Where they know that a warm welcome, connection, understanding – and zero judgement or expectation – await.

Frequently asked questions

We leave this purposefully open. We recommend that the group is most appropriate for mothers with babies from newborn up to walkers, but it's really about how comfortable you feel with your baby in your writing space. All children are different, and we trust you to know whether writing with your child accompanying you will work for you or not. And if you're not able to write very much, you will still be an important part of the group - you will still be invited to share and listen, and we can give you prompts to take home. If you're unsure about how it will work with your baby, feel free to contact us and we can chat it through with you!
