Folkestone Autumn Term

Yoke Folkestone
46 Guildhall StreetFolkestone and Hythe CT20 1EESouth East
Starts Thu, 17 Sept 2026
Yoke Folkestone
Nestled above the creative quarter sits Yoke, a terracotta-soaked cafe and yoga studio on Guildhall Street. Follow the aroma of fresh coffee and wholesome, home-baked treats inside. Downstairs you'll find a calm cocoon of a studio where our circle gathers. Warm lighting creates the perfect sanctuary for you to write in, to the hum of the cafe above. Our Writing Circles are weekly mother & baby groups, using writing & community in beautiful settings to support the transition into motherhood. The circles are open to anyone who self-identities with mothering or motherhood, whatever way that looks.

Taster session

Your chance to experience the magic of a MotherFolk circle before committing to booking a whole term. Please note: Buying a taster session doesn't automatically hold you a place on the current term - if the term you've tried is already full by the time you come to book, we can't guarantee a spot. If that happens, you won't lose out: we'll guarantee you a place on the following term instead.

Access

We’re committed to making MotherFolk spaces as accessible and welcoming as possible. Most of our venues are fully wheelchair accessible. Our Folkestone circle happens in their downstairs yoga studio, which unfortunately does not have step-free access. There is space where you can leave your pram upstairs or if you need a hand, myself, Jade or Ollie can help carry your pram downstairs. If you have access needs of any kind, please let us know on the form when booking. We're always happy to move a session to an accessible venue whenever possible, or to discuss alternative arrangements so you can take part fully.

About the host

Hello, I'm Alice

Proudly bringing Motherfolk circles to Folkestone

Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, I moved to Folkestone in 2022. I had my son in 2024 at home on the bathroom floor of my home - with the support of the incredible powerhouse team that is Juno Midwives.

When it came to motherhood, I felt like I could never do it "well". That first year I felt like I was climbing out of a swamp in a ditch surrounded by lava.

A friend in Newcastle attends MotherFolk circles and called me one day and said "I think you'd love this". And here I am.

MotherFolk is a perfect meeting of worlds for me. When I'm not parenting (which is most of the time) I'm an actor, musician and facilitator. I have been lucky to work with the likes of The RSC, The Globe and The Marlowe Theatre.

Motherhood cracked me open and I struggled to find a space to process it. And then I found writing. A creative outlet that connected me to my centre and my creative purpose.

Frequently asked questions

Absolutely not! Our circles are not writing classes, and they’re not about producing perfect pieces of writing. Writing is simply the tool we use to connect with ourselves and unpack our experiences a little bit. We will always give you very easy prompts to jump into, and you will never be asked to read your writing aloud to the group.
