Introducing MotherFolk by Candlelight: adults only writing circles for mothers at every stage of motherhood. Using writing, community, and candlelight to put down our motherhood in the heart of the winter hustle. Motherhood evolves, but the need to be held never ends. MotherFolk by candlelight offers childcare free gatherings designed to give you and your feelings uninterrupted space. Whether you're the mother of a baby, a toddler, a child, a teenager, or even a grown-up - MotherFolk wants to hear your story. This circle is about the light and the dark. Where do we find light in the dark winter days? What does it illuminate? What does it throw into relief? Together we'll explore how we can hold both the light and dark, of winter, of motherhood, simultaneously; how we can acknowledge both without one diminishing the truth of the other. This special circle will take place at Elvaston, the most gorgeous café at the heart of its community. With its warm, homely atmosphere and calming earth tones, I couldn't think of a softer space to land.

About the host

Hi, I'm Bridie (She/Her)

I can't wait to welcome you to a circle soon!

I am a Tyne Valley native, an enthusiastic reader, writer, singer and scranner. When asked about my hobbies, my husband once told a new acquaintance that I like TV. I couldn’t deny it.

MotherFolk circles held me as I grew into my motherhood. A warm space to reflect and realise was exactly what I needed and I’m so excited to hold that space for the mother folk of the Tyne Valley.
